What you need to know about Buttock Liposuction in Johannesburg

Buttock liposuction is a surgical procedure performed using a suction technique to remove excess fat from the buttock area and contour the body. By reducing the amount of excess fat in the buttocks, buttocks liposuction provides a more contoured look.

Having some fat in the buttocks is essential since the fat has functional and aesthetic importance. Functionally, fat in the buttocks acts as a soft, resilient cushion that provides protection for your skeletal structure when you are sitting. Without it, sitting can be painful and difficult. Aesthetically, the buttock provides a natural curve that is pleasing to the eye. However, although having some extra fat in the buttocks is often desirable, disproportioned buttocks can be a source of embarrassment, inconvenience, and dissatisfaction for some people.

Many people want shapely, firm, and perky buttocks. However, even with proper diet and regular exercise, it can often be difficult to eliminate fat in this area, which prevents you from having the shape you want. This is where buttocks liposuction help. With this procedure, excess fat is removed, decreasing the size of the buttocks, smoothing the curvature of the bottom, and even lifting the lower buttock region. This means that the procedure helps you minimize some unsightly dimpling, make your figure look more proportionate, and help the buttocks fit into clothing more comfortably. Liposuction in the buttocks and thighs are often combined to create a beautifully balanced and symmetrical appearance.

Although the buttocks may seem like just one large area, it encompasses several smaller and specific areas that need to be treated individually during buttocks liposuction. These areas are:

  • Infra-gluteal crease – this is the distinct crease line that separates the buttocks from the tights. However, it is not always distinct in everyone, and many people prefer the crease line to be more defined to create the illusion of a more elevated and rounded buttock. Liposuction in this area must be done with caution as removing too much fat can make it difficult for you to sit down and eave an unnatural appearance when you stretch or bend over.
  • Lumbosacral fat pad – lumbosacral fat pad is small deposits of fatty tissue situated on the lower portion of the spine where your back meets your buttock. Even with weight loss, the lumbosacral fat pad can persist and even become more prominent. Not only it makes some people feel self-conscious about the way they look and make clothes look unflattering, but it can also cause discomfort when you are lying on your back.
  • Gluteal trochanteric area – mostly known as “saddlebags,” gluteal trochanteric area is one of the most sought-after areas treated by buttocks liposuction. Many people want to get rid of saddlebags because they make their pants fit a little too tight or make their body look out of proportion. Eliminating fat from this area can make your leg look more streamlined, so your legs look leaner and longer, and your frame looks taller.
  • Banana-shaped fat pad – known as the “banana roll,” banana-shaped fat pat is an accumulation of fat between the upper posterior thigh and the infra-gluteal crease that resembles the shape of a banana. It can cause the back of the glutes to sag, resulting in a loss of firmness under the buttocks. It may also cause discomfort when fitting into bathing suits or tight jeans. Buttocks liposuction can help minimize this fat pad, creating a smoother continuation between your thigh and buttock, which in turn make your legs look longer and the buttock look lifted.

There are fewer neurovascular (nerves and blood vessels) structures in the buttocks compared to other areas of the body. The subcutaneous fat (fat that is located directly underneath the skin) in this area is not as fibrous as it is in other regions of the body and is uniform, making buttocks liposuction easier to perform and making the possibility of achieving optimal results higher.
